Try carving a representation of a human being!
We have all tried Play-Doh or clay, but carving is different. With carving you start with a block and then subtract material. There is no going back!
Materials: Bar of soap, a variety of household utensils (even a plastic knife works).

Read the first few pages of the textbook and the article here to learn about the many theories about why people made these.
You will be writing a short response in class about these sculptures and your experience. You will need to reference the readings.
Q. Does it have to be female?
A. No. Any human of any age is fine.
Q. Does it have to be naked?
A. Not at all. Your choice!
Q. Can I use water to smooth it out?
A. Hmmm... maybe not. We are trying to replicate the Paleolithic experience and that would not work with a stone....
